Yes, writing "Meet Moto Hagio" #2 before the first one... because this one is actually shorter to write (●´Å`). I will link to the first report once I'll be done writing it. >__<

Today was the second time I've met Moto Hagio. I'm still sorry I couldn't talk with her directly ! ;_; This is not a complete report of everything she said today, since most of what she said was already mentioned in the conference (Meet Hagio Moto #1, still being written). But here we go :

I started sketching a fanart for her 30 min before catching the bus. Not a really good idea... Then I tried to rush the watercolour for it. *cries* Worst idea ever ! I ended up not having anything good to give her. orz

^ Mosaics above because it's... just too bad 8'|

Rest is under the cut.

(An entry I wrote exactly 3 weeks ago. (on October 12th)
So I might as well post it ! It was saved in my drafts all that time...)

//So please read this as of October 12th!//

I don't have much to post lately (I barely sleep anymore or either produce crap at school) orz so... here have a very very cheesy fanart I made in September to cheer my friend rem up !
It's a fanart of Nemo, her original character from her project "Devil's Candy". Ah man, I'm so eager to see what it's gonna be like... ( //* q *)

A few news ? Not many except that I need to organize my time more so I could find some time to sleep and perhaps, do projects (+ learn some japanese). (yes please excuse my japanese / korean expression and bad english on the illustration orz...)

Oh right, my laptop's screen is weird, I keep having luminosity problems (and that I can't resolve)... /__\ OTL Hopefully I will get my brother's laptop in December, when he comes back from Canada ! And so during Christmas holidays I'll marathon all my cg commissions, finish the sketch commission too and send every package I have to send. Whew !
Please be forgiveful for my crappy pictures edits, later on... m(_ _)m

There have a few photos i've taken a while ago :9

My very first shoujo magazine I bought to see how it was like inside (Betsuma Margaret is actually a very very cool shoujo mag, mang). There was an extra included (summer stories) with an extra hug-and-kiss-on-the-beach-at-sunset sparkling scene. Wooyes. (just kidding I haven't read it yet)

The size of the thing was actually very surprising wow

Strobe Edge, by Sakisaka Io (in japanese because the french version sucks. So I prefer to get it in the original version) + Gente, by Ono Natsume

S mag vol.32 featuring yooani's illustration, which was a big surprise when I saw it inside. On the right, there is Le samourai bambou by Taiyou Matsumoto which won the Grand Tezuka Prize, and which I still need to read.

S mag is awesome ! The magazine features many artists and illustrators, and have very good interviews (that I can't read yet/shot) but in overall it's a very, very good quality magazine. If you ever see any S mag, grab it and take a look inside, you won't regret it.

Oh ! And before I forget, a shoujo I discovered not long ago, thanks to my friend Sarah : Yumemiru Taiyou (which you can read here.)
I really liked the cute style within the panels, and also the different types of characters. One serie that gave me the shoujo feelings ahaha ! To check !
The serie is also serialized in Betsuma Margaret, and I very dumbly spoiled myself while reading the mag. Facepalm.

(I didn't resist getting the tomes when I saw them on sale at book-off....)

*COUGH* Yeps... I am a shameless (good !)shoujo-lover... └((´э`))┘

Just a small warm-up (Ethan from my Encounter series).
I didn't ink with nibs for a long time so I got quite rusty ! (ι´Д`)ノ

I'm looking forward new inking material (nibs, inks) that should arrive by next month ;
I hope that inking comics will be much more enjoyable using them...

Also, I got myself this :

Very much love for Aki Shimizu's works and dynamic scenes ! This comic was mind-blowing, I really liked the action and its universe ; I recommend it to anyone who likes chinese mythology ! (It's a shame that Tokyopop stopped its publication after the volume 4, though ; the french publication is very neat.)

Japan Expo...

*Huff huff* Why am I always so late at everything ? hahaha

It's been exactly three weeks since I've been attending Japan Expo (one day only this year), as a visitor and not an exhibitor.
It was fun but not as funny as I had expected ; I couldn't spend much time with my friends in the artist alley (and some were already gone on vacation) but I happily spent my money instead.... although now I'm broke*cough cough*. I didn't see (m)any japanese doujinshi circles, but that was to be expected with this year's events.

Some people might not be interested into reading the complete report, which is why I am posting this year's loot pictures first :

When I stepped by this artbooks stand, I merely spent all my money to get those three books OTL.... so what I got myself after were those very cute stickers (from Aranzi Aronzo)
Basically, everything they sold was really cute... but too pricey. 8__8

Never regretting the Tactics Ogre artbook though !!

I also got myself the two first volumes of Strobe Edge (by Sakisaka Io), which is one of my favourite shoujos. The panelling/pacing is very good, despite of the very beginning that some people would find "stereotyped" or weird. Past it, I really loved the scanlations' works, which made me discover and love this shoujo ; the french publisher and traduction, - with the typo for the title - didn't handle it well at all ; as a result, the work got sacrified (in my opinion) and the reading flow really suffered from the lack of french skills (and the will to make it look more professional by pulling dots after every each sentence, which just makes it the most unnatural ever).

In a few words, vocabulary mixed, (French being VERY subtile, you must use the right words in order to express the right things in the right context), lack of punctuation consistency literally ruined the work I've been so much looking forward to. To the point that I am myself considering to get the Japanese volumes...

But anyways, sorry for rambling over how a work got 'mis'published. It happens so much with even great works and make it appear dull that it irks and irritates me WAY TOO MUCH...

*HUFF*

Look at that poster kana offered me when I bought strobe edge : the most kitschy and glittering poster I've ever seen in my life ever

After that, I was litteraly broke and didn't get to buy much anything else...

Detailed report under the cut !!

Personality switch

This is how Atsushi would probably look like if he had a personality-reverse.
I love drawing personality switch for my characters ! It's really interesting, as well as drawing them with different haircuts... (* q *)

Anyways ! I've been discovering and watching tooooons of korean/japanese dramas lately. Relaxing and taking a real break from drawing this time really was refreshing for me ; this time it was a break I took on my own, not a forced and frustrating break because of an artblock. (I was anyways in an artblock before so I couldn't help it ahaha)

It allowed me to study how the montage, OST, actors' play, backgrounds, plans, pacing, jokes, screenwriters etc. really had to be of the top quality all together to make a masterpiece. It's very interesting to study from movies, since I had never done so before...

I've been postponing the Japan Expo report (which exactly happened two weeks ago) many times out of lazyness, but the entry is still a draft and is full of crappy pictures dohoho. Coming soon though ! ;)

List of dramas I've watched :

Japanese dramas

★1 Hana kimi (2007) <-- Very funny !! Pause anytime in the drama and you will see what I am talking about... (especially the faces in the background) LOL
★2 Nodame Cantabile (2006)
★3 Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (2010)

Korean dramas

★1 You're beautiful (2009) <-- YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT. THE BEST AND FUNNIEST I SWEAR. I recommend it to people who even have a hard time with romance ; this is really funny and not so cheesy. Watch it !!!
★2 Heartstrings (2011, currently airing)
★3 Boys Before Flowers / Boys Over Flowers (2009)
★4 Mary stayed out all night (2010)

I would strongly recommend you to watch You're beautiful, Hana Kimi (and for Boys before flowers, you need to go past the first episode. After that, it's really entertaining).

But you must watch You're beautiful.

must must must must (click to watch)
