*Huff huff* Why am I always so late at everything ? hahaha

It's been exactly three weeks since I've been attending Japan Expo (one day only this year), as a visitor and not an exhibitor.
It was fun but not as funny as I had expected ; I couldn't spend much time with my friends in the artist alley (and some were already gone on vacation) but I happily spent my money instead.... although now I'm broke*cough cough*. I didn't see (m)any japanese doujinshi circles, but that was to be expected with this year's events.

Some people might not be interested into reading the complete report, which is why I am posting this year's loot pictures first :

When I stepped by this artbooks stand, I merely spent all my money to get those three books OTL.... so what I got myself after were those very cute stickers (from Aranzi Aronzo)
Basically, everything they sold was really cute... but too pricey. 8__8

Never regretting the Tactics Ogre artbook though !!

I also got myself the two first volumes of Strobe Edge (by Sakisaka Io), which is one of my favourite shoujos. The panelling/pacing is very good, despite of the very beginning that some people would find "stereotyped" or weird. Past it, I really loved the scanlations' works, which made me discover and love this shoujo ; the french publisher and traduction, - with the typo for the title - didn't handle it well at all ; as a result, the work got sacrified (in my opinion) and the reading flow really suffered from the lack of french skills (and the will to make it look more professional by pulling dots after every each sentence, which just makes it the most unnatural ever).

In a few words, vocabulary mixed, (French being VERY subtile, you must use the right words in order to express the right things in the right context), lack of punctuation consistency literally ruined the work I've been so much looking forward to. To the point that I am myself considering to get the Japanese volumes...

But anyways, sorry for rambling over how a work got 'mis'published. It happens so much with even great works and make it appear dull that it irks and irritates me WAY TOO MUCH...

Look at that poster kana offered me when I bought strobe edge : the most kitschy and glittering poster I've ever seen in my life ever

After that, I was litteraly broke and didn't get to buy much anything else...

Detailed report under the cut !!

For the first time, I mainly spent my day with a friend in the professional booths instead of the artist alley.
Even though I went on Friday (the convention was on Thursday, June 31st ~ Sunday, July 3rd) and quite early
in the morning, the waiting hall had quite a number of people, if you compare it to Anime North (which I attended
to back in Toronto).

It was at an hour when it wasn't supposed to be crowded. Yet, the waiting hall is the size of Anime North's whole
convention center - scary. (and I still remember when we had to wait outside, a few years ago...)

I am really not used to take pictures during conventions - just as I had taken none at Anime North - so please forgive
the very lacking quality and blurriness of every single picture of this entry.

Every year, there is a little "exhibition" with cosplay costumes, in the professional zone ; they usually display original
works of an author, to promote a new serie (as long with an oversized bag for any purchase).
This year's serie was "Judge", and I found the exhibition to be quite well-done ;D

The alleys are quite large, but when it's crowded you go at the 1mph speed OTL...
Anyways, I saw those Mandoka and Homuraman cosplays go past me... They were funny Japanese crossdressing guys.
I tried to run after them but didn't dare ask them for a picture.... orz *bangs head onto the wall* NOW I AM REGRETTING FOREVER AKSUFHS

sob sob... all my tears

Anyways !! I learned that I greatly missed the conference that was held the day before, about Tiger & Bunny. (they even invited
the director of the show to present it) ; above the panel, there was a TV screen introducing Kuragehime to the visitors as well...
What hit me was that Tiger & Bunny wasn't popular among the french artist alley at all. There was even an "Ouroboros" circle,
with the same logo (?) but nothing was related to Tiger & Bunny at all ; I think that I saw some Madoka Magica, but nothing from Ao no Exorcist either...

Look at that giant Naruto... the Kana stand (Naruto's french publisher) have put this up every year for five years already, I think. Hahaha IT SCARES PEOPLE (but also serves as a very good checkpoint whenever you're lost...)

Passing by an anime-specialized stand, they were selling many sorts of dvds when my eyes caught something. (I REALLY WANT THIS SOB)

Heero... ahh the style everything dkfughd Gundam Wing has been the first anime that caught me into drawing. I swear that if I am drawing now, it's all thanks to Heero Yuy in my childhood ! (and Trowa Barton too). My first anime idols ever /shot/ but just look at how fabulous they look like !!!!1

That was just a little while before my eyes got a spark of this............................

Leaving you on this (very hansamu) note !
